Sushi Serenity

It has been a pretty hectic week in my neck of the woods, so an evening out with friends was just what the doctor ordered!! Momo Sushi Restaurant is probably the best sushi place I've never been to and it's right here in Old Town Alexandria. The fish is incredibly fresh and the rolls are traditional, yet unique.  My favorite roll to date is the Hawaiian roll... I mean come on, have you . . . Continue Reading »

Saving Money

Living in Washington, DC may be a lot of fun, but it's also really expensive.  I'm grateful to have a fantastic full time job, but unfortunately I don't make the big bucks like those working for the federal government.  With the cost of living being as high as it is here, I far too often live month to month.... so what's a single gal to do? A Wicked Weekend

I had a wonderfully wicked weekend! Saturday started off with a number of errands but after an afternoon of homework my BF and I headed into the city.  I love Washington, DC but one thing I do not love is the Metro Transit System on weekends.  Due to lower ridership it's a great time to do maintenance, but for those who do use the train, it boils down to long waits, packed cars, and LOTS of t . . . Workout Wagon

I've fallen off the workout wagon and I've got to get back on!  Two weeks ago I was just a hot mess with my sleep schedule.  I stayed up late most nights, which I blame on homework, events, and insomnia and had a really tough time getting out of bed in the morning.  It was just an odd week and then I got a stomach bug! This past week, I was still fighting my stomach bug and made it up in my mi . . . Continue Reading »

Dreaming of Peaches

Although I got 9 hours of sleep last night it wasn't all that solid.  I shouldn't complain though, I got to sleep in until 7:30AM which was fantastic!  Sometimes my brain is just overloaded, which keeps me up at night.  Graduate school, work, and future planning.... lots to think about. Anywho, after a quick bowl of cereal I picked up my boyfriend and headed off to the Old Town Alexandria fa . . . Continue Reading »

Everybody’s Working For The Weekend!

Happy Friday!! Who's ready for the weekend? Today has been great so far and I must attribute it to my evening last night.  After work I took a grad school quiz and finished up my course work for the week.  Woop Woop!  One class' work done for the week, one class to go.  I then headed to Chinatown to meet my boyfriend for a sneak preview of Horrible Bosses.  I knew I wouldn't make it through the mo . . . Spice it up!

Sometimes life just needs a little extra spice and last night I decided to spice things up with CILANTRO, Cha Cha Cha! I found a wonderful, and easy recipe, on Nutmeg Notebook a few weeks ago and just knew that it would come in handy!  I began by sauteing chicken tenders with a little Mrs. Dash Fiesta Lime Chicken tenders are great because they cook quickly and make portion control . . . Berry Delicious Smoothies

My smoothies this week have been rockin' and a great addition to my Scaleless Summer!  PB Fingers makes some amazing smoothies and I figured it was about time for me to bust out my blender and whip up some smoothies of my own.  As my pantry was sans frozen fruit, protein powder, and Greek yogurt I headed to Trader Joe's on Sunday to pick up a few things. Smoothie Grocery List Frozen P . . . Continue Reading »

A Scaleless Summer

Are you ever consumed by the number you see on the scale?  Do you weigh yourself weekly, daily, even twice a day to see how your weight has fluctuated?  Are you elated when the number goes down and discouraged when the number goes up? So much affects our body weight on a daily basis.  Eating a lot of salt the day before, drinking lots of water, drinking too little water, having just fi . . . Continue Reading »

Weekly Plan: June 20-26

A Sunday Recap Last week was rather crazy!  Started the week off being sleep deprived, had a few odd mornings midway through the week, and then ended the week with a stomach bug.  Not fun at all!  One of the benefits of being sick though is that I am WELL rested and have had plenty of time to think!  I felt great on Sunday and worked hard to prep for the week ahead.  But what's hard work without a . . . A Little Honesty…

I've gone back and forth on how to write this post. I'm not sure if it's the fact that I've been home sick for 3 days, that my hormones are crazy this TOM, or that I've just been thinking a lot but I feel the need to be honest about a few things.... and I'm hoping some of you can relate. I struggle with self image and accepting complements from others. It's hard for me to remember how far . . . Continue Reading »

Hello Appetite

Having been sick since Wednesday night, I finally started to get my appetite back last night.  I didn't want to push it too far, so I just stuck to chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers.  It was nice to finally eat something but I was SO ready for some real food.  Last night I swear I dreamed of pancakes all night... so first thing this morning, I made pancakes! My Mom works at Wi . . . Continue Reading »

Ouch Charlie!

I'm not feeling too well today, sadness.  This week has been a little odd and yet a lot of fun at the same time. Saturday and Sunday night I only got 5 hours of sleep... which I think is what started this work week off on the wrong foot. Monday was great because I metroed into the city with my BF and was at the gym really early.  That night I went to my bible study, which was awesome, but d . . . Continue Reading »

Smokey Bacon Aioli!!

What a morning!  I knew something was up when I woke up feeling rested and low and behold it was 9:08AM.  I had slept through both of my alarms!  I love hate it when that happens! So last night my BF and I went to the Nationals game.  I absolutely love this ballpark and it's so great having baseball in Washington, DC.  If you ever visit DC, you have to come to a game at Nats Park. As game . . . Continue Reading »

Pantry Challenge

Have you ever looked at a pantry full of food and thought to yourself, "I have had no idea what to eat"?  Do you head to the grocery store each week even though you have a number of things already at home?  Do you spend more than you budget each week at the grocery store? Over the past few weeks I've found myself doing these very things and asking questions like, "What can I eat?" and "Why d . . . Continue Reading »
