Pantry Challenge

Have you ever looked at a pantry full of food and thought to yourself, “I have had no idea what to eat”?  Do you head to the grocery store each week even though you have a number of things already at home?  Do you spend more than you budget each week at the grocery store?

Welcome to my pantry!

Over the past few weeks I’ve found myself doing these very things and asking questions like, “What can I eat?” and “Why do I spend so much at the grocery store?”.  The challenge is to take a look at everything in your pantry, fridge and freezer and to live off of it as long as possible.  Some of you may be thinking “Really?!?” but it is so doable.  I know every person is different but I tend to over shop, buying things based on what I’m craving, what’s on sale, or what I think I need.

My fridge

Over the next few weeks, I will need to buy perishables such as milk, eggs, vegetables and fruits but the challenge is to use what is already in my fridge and in my pantry first.  It is going to take a lot of creativity and the use of websites like All Recipes, which allows you to search for recipes by ingredient.  I will keep you all updated with the status of my pantry and look forward to sharing recipes with you all!  Well, lets take a look at my pantry, shall we?

    I LOVE this challenge. Oh my God…I’ve become a bit of a hoarder it seems and have a stocked cupboard. The thing is I tend to mostly eat “fresh” foods -or refridgerated (fruits, veg’s, meats, dairy, etc.) so always end up emptying that out like a few times a week!

    But I really need to be careful with my money…I should do this too! :)
