My smoothies this week have been rockin’ and a great addition to my Scaleless SummerPB Fingers makes some amazing smoothies and I figured it was about time for me to bust out my blender and whip up some smoothies of my own.  As my pantry was sans frozen fruit, protein powder, and Greek yogurt I headed to Trader Joe’s on Sunday to pick up a few things.

Smoothie Grocery List

  • Frozen Pineapple Tidbits
  • Frozen Whole Strawberries
  • Frozen Berry Medley
  • Frozen Berry Medley with Cherries
  • Frozen Mango Puree (TJ’s has these little packets… they’re awesome)
  • Aria Protein Powder
  • O% Greek Yogurt (plain)
  • Skim Milk

Monday morning I made a strawberry banana smoothie that was out of this world.  A few weeks ago I started to freeze my bananas as they started to develop brown spots.  I’ve found that I’m less likely to eat bananas once they’ve truly ripened.  As I don’t want to waste good fruit, I peel the banana, cut it into chunks, throw it in a ziploc bag, and then toss the bag in the freezer.  It’s great having ready to go chucks of frozen banana in my freezer these days.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 frozen banana
  • handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop protein powder

Tuesday I made a fresh pineapple smoothie with mango puree and a few strawberries. I had some leftover fresh pineapple from Whole Foods and I threw it in the freezer knowing that I’d just love to throw it in a smoothie this week!

Pineapple, Mango, Strawberry Smoothie

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 6 large chunks of pineapple
  • 1 packet of mango puree
  • a few frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop protein powder

And then today I made a berry smoothie.  It was so refreshing…. but the seeds were a bit much.  As I now have Invisalign, having to deal with all those seeds before putting my trays back in was a bit of a hassle this morning.

Mixed Berry and Pineapple Smoothie

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup pineapple tidbits
  • 1 cup mixed berries
  • 1 scoop protein powder

I am looking forward to trying even more smoothies and incorporating more fresh fruit into the mix.  I’m hoping to get some great fruit at the farmer’s market this Saturday.  I’ve also seen a lot of bloggers add spinach to their smoothies…. so I’ve got to give that a try.

On the home front, I’m still not feeling too hot.  Boooo.  My mom said that it can take some time for your body’s Ph levels to balance out and on top of that, it’s that TOM.  On top of that, I just haven’t had the energy to workout this week.  It can be tough balancing out resting/recovering and returning to my normal routine.  My appetite is also all over the place, but I’m sure my body will tell me what it needs.

Happy Hump Day Everyone!  Enjoy your day and make the most of it!
