Yesterday started out with a 2 mile run with Neal. We’ve been really good about training and wake up bright and early on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday to do our runs. Although we’re running 12 minute miles on a 2:1 interval ratio, I feel great about the beginning of our training. We’ll get faster and we’ll increase our intervals.
Wednesday’s Calorie Breakdown

- Afternoon snack: 230 calories

After a long day at work, I was extremely excited to meet up with Liz for dinner and our crocheting class. Liz and I met up at Dupont Circle and decided to go to Bistrot Du Coin for dinner.
Liz and I love our French Soup meetups, and although it was hot as
balls all get out I decided to order the soup anyways. Liz ordered a lovely goat cheese and walnut salad.
After dinner we went to Docezza Gelato for dessert! I ordered the cinnamon sumatra and Liz ordered the yellow peach sorbet. Both were unreal! They were also very low in fat, which was good after eating all that delicious cheese on my french onion soup!
After dinner we headed off to Looped Yarn Works for our crocheting class.
Looped Yarn Works is an ADORABLE store. They have couches in the front of the store for “open knitting/crocheting hours” and have a room in the back for classes.
The class we attended, Crocheting Basics, was a very small and intimate class but we loved it.
I purchased a gray yarn to make my first scarf with and Liz purchased a beautiful pink/purple heather color.
I really enjoyed the class and would recommend it to anyone living in the DC area. Our instructor, Phyllis from Many Creative Gifts, was fantastic!
Today I SLEPT IN!!! It was wonderful. Tuesday and Saturday are my days off from working out, but because I worked out on Tuesday I thought I would take today off. I woke up refreshed and ready to tackle the day ahead.
For lunch I had a ham sandwich with apline lace swiss cheese and roasted garlic hummus, grapes, and Mystic Mango Kombucha.
The Kombucha was off the chain! I have tried two other flavors, including gingerade, and this was by far my favorite.
So far today I have consumed 674 calories, leaving me with 829 calories for a snack and dinner. As I’m not working out today, I really want to work hard not to go over my allotted calories. Tonight for dinner I’m thinking whole wheat pasta with canned tuna and whatever frozen veggies I have in the freezer for dinner. Oh, and a beer if I have the calories for it!
I’ve really enjoyed counting my calories this week. It has taught me a lot and has got me back on track. One bit at a time. One meal at a time. One week at a time.
Tonight’s going to be a little hectic as I have a lot to get done before the weekend. Here’s the plan:
- Drive home from work
- Do my laundry (2 loads and towels)
- While I’m doing my laundry watch 2 video lecture for one of my graduate classes
- Run to Target with Neal
- Do all of my homework for my other graduate class
I know I can get it all done, I just need to be focused and diligent in my work.
