Thanksgiving Dinner and a Wedding Dress

My time here in Texas has been amazing!  Wedding dress shopping, time with family, time with friends… it has been amazing!  Friday my Mom and I did a lot of prep work for our “Pre Thanksgiving Thanksgiving”.  As my Mom is an amazing cook, she headed straight to the kitchen around 2PM and got cooking!

Turkey, ham and all the fixins… it was an amazing meal!  My family and I have always treasured Thanksgiving together and Friday was no different.  Friday was also my Dad’s birthday, so it was fun to celebrate his birthday after our dinner.

After a big dinner, an early morning run sounded like a good plan!  I got up at 6:30AM and headed out for a 3 mile run around my parent’s neighborhood.  The weather was crisp and just perfect for a short run.  I ran at an 11 minute pace for just over 35 minutes and ran 3 miles (thank you forerunner 305 for tracking my mileage).  It’s really amazing how easy a 3 mile run is these days.  Training really works!

After getting cleaned up, my mom, sister and I headed out to look at more wedding dresses!

The store we went today was interesting, to say the least.  I had a totally different experience today than I did on Thursday night, and I left without a favorite dress.  This was as close as I got to a “favorite” but even then I knew it wasn’t what I was looking for (this is NOT my wedding dress btw).

After trying on about 10 dresses, I knew that the store we visited on Thursday held my wedding dress!  Thankfully my best friend Stephanie was with us, so we headed back over to the first store to try on a few dresses and to show Stephanie my favorite!  I tried on about 5 more dresses there, two of which caught my eye, but in the end the dress from Thursday night store my heart!  It is the most beautiful dress and has made 3 women in my life cry!  Without hesitation, I bought it tonight!

The only down side to today was that I totally caught a stomach bug that my Mom had.  There’s nothing worse than feeling sick when you’re trying on wedding dresses.  Thanks God we didn’t have a Bridesmaids episode (hopefully you’ve seen that movie, if not, please go see it).

After a long nap, my Mom and I headed over to Eduardo’s to get my hair done!

I love, love, love Eduardo and I SO wish he lived in DC.  He is just so good at what he does and I have the most amazing time at his salon.  Tonight we watched the First Wives Club while I was getting my highlights done… classic!

I love my hair and am so happy.  I’m really starting to feel great about myself!  Teeth are getting straighter (invisalign), my body is getting firmer (boxing, weight lifting), I’m starting to lose weight (Weight Watchers and running), and I’m so in love!  Life is good!

This trip home has been amazing and I’m sad to be leaving tomorrow.  At least I have most of Sunday to spend with friends and family— church + Mexican food + and maybe a little shopping= the perfect end to a perfect trip!  I adore my family and am so grateful for their love and support!

Have a very happy Sunday!  Enjoy the last bit of your weekend!

Looks like you had a great weekend- I love that you guys did Thanksgiving early. And really- shouldn’t everyone do a Thanksgiving dinner more often? :)
Your hair looks incredible and you look so pretty! Maybe I’ll have to fly down to TX to get Eduardo to do something with my mess of a mop!
    Have a great week! xoxo

I love your hair. Lighter is definitely a good color on you. It must be such a relief to have you dress already. That’s a major check off the list.
