Winter Hydration Tips

Although we may not think about it, staying hydrated during the winter months can be difficult.  Instead of reaching for an ice cold glass of water, many of us are reaching for a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate... or nothing at all. Thankfully, Molly Kimball RD, spokesperson for Crystal Light Pure sent me some fantastic hydration tips along with some samples of Crystal Light Pure from . . . Continue Reading »

Pizzeria Paradiso

OK, first I need to whine a little.  This is the third year I've entered the lottery for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler and as of 7AM this morning, I still haven't received an e-mail about whether or not I've gotten in.  I'm going to be pretty bummed if I don't  get in again this year!  I could always volunteer, but I realllllly want to run it one of these years!  Ok, I'm done.  Fingers are cross . . . Happy Birthday Neal!

Today is Neal's birthday!!  We started the celebrations a little early, as I surprised him with Washington Capitals hockey tickets for last night's game. Before the game we headed over to Potbellys for some dinner.  I ordered the Smoked Ham sandwich on wheat with mustard, hot peppers and all the veggies.  At 15PP, I'm not sure if it was worth it but man was it tasty!  The good thing was, pri . . . Fabulous Friday Giveaway

What's better than giveaway?  OK, there's a lot that'd be better than a giveaway, but get excited!!  In my journey, I have found that portion control is one of the biggest keys to weight loss.  One gadget that makes portion control easier for me is my shot glass mini measure. I use this to measure out my creamer/half and half in the morning, to make sure I'm really only putting  2 TB . . . Continue Reading »

Green Chili Chili and WW Week 6

While searching for a steel cut oats recipe, I came across an Iowa Girl Eats recipe that I had been wanting to try for a while... White Chili!  I modified the recipe a little bit and created Weight Watchers friendly Green-Chili Chili. Green-Chili Chili Ingredients -1 tablespoon vegetable oil - 2 sweet onions, chopped - 2 TBSP minced garlic - 1/2 TBSP ground cumin - 1 4.5 ounce can . . . Continue Reading »

Banana Steel Cut Oats

On Sunday after church, Neal and I went to Founding Farmers in Potomac, Maryland. I fell in love with this restaurant the moment I stepped inside.  It was so inviting and every item on the menu screamed "TRY ME". Although I REALLY wanted to order the Carrot Cake Pancakes, I decided to be a good girl and order the Steel Cut Oats.  The oats came with almonds, strawberries, brown sugar, . . . Continue Reading »

DC Hot Chocolate Race

On Saturday, Neal and I ran the DC Hot Chocolate 15K race at the National Harbor, just outside of Washington, DC.  Our training began back in August and was a modified training program from when I ran a half marathon back in 2010.  I really enjoyed our training program, which prepared us for a 10K, a 5 mile race, and of course the 15K. 90% of our training was done by running intervals.  We ran t . . . Friday Night… Was The Worst!

Wednesday night after work, Neal and I went to the expo to pick our jackets and bibs.  Sadly though, I had to go back to the expo Friday night to pick up a parking pass... and that's when the "fun" began.  Here's the run down... 1.  I realized on my way home from work that I didn't buy a parking pass and would have to go back to the expo 2.  Traffic into the expo was horrible 3.  A lady ba . . . Constantly Eating

Nov 19-20 024

Running the DC Hot Chocolate 15K became a reality last night when Neal and I picked up our bibs and jackets at the DC Hot Chocolate Expo. I overheard last night that there are 22,000 people running this race.  I have NO idea if that is true, but based on the expo, this is going to be a big race.  There is going to be both a 5K and a 15K but the bulk of the entries were for the 1 . . .
