I had an interesting start to the work week yesterday. After a 6AM run with Neal (2 miles in 21 minutes), I headed back home and jumped in the shower. Next up, making an AWESOME smoothie! I decided to try out Green Lemonade’s New Year’s Day Detox Smoothie, well a variation of it.
- 1 cup of Trader Joe’s Frozen Mixed Berries
- 1/2 cup of fresh cranberries
- 1 large handful of spinach
- 1 vita coco
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
Seconds after pouring my smoothie into the glass, and snapping a picture of it, my apartment building’s fire alarm went off!
With wet hair and an ice cold smoothie in my hand, I headed outside. Thankfully there was no fire, but we were outside for about 45 minutes and were permitted to go back to our apartments 30 minutes after that. Not exactly how I wanted to start out the week. Thankfully the government was off, so it only took me 20 minutes to drive to work which is UNREAL!!
Aside from the fire drill, yesterday was great! I ran, stuck to my detox plan, had plenty of energy considering the small amount of sleep I was working with, was NOT starving, lifted weights over lunch, and got all of my laundry done last night. It was a great Monday and a fantastic first day on the Whole Living Detox plan.
Day 1 Food Log
Breakfast: cran-raspberry smoothie @ 7AM
Lunch: avocado, tomato, jalapeno, and corn salad (seasoned with salt, pepper, and lemon juice) and cucumbers @ 1:30PM
Dinner: Trader Joe’s tomato and roasted red pepper soup (which is AWESOME!! I highly recommend it) and apple cider vinegar marinated cucumbers @ 6:30PM
I wonder if today is going to be tougher, diet wise, as my body continues to adjust to a fruit, veggies, and nut diet. After day 1 I feel that the key is bringing snacks to work, having a hearty lunch, and drinking lots of water.
Tonight is also an extremely exciting night as the Biggest Loser starts up again!! I don’t know about you, but I LOVE this show. I’ve been watching the show since it began back in 2004 and am thrilled season 13 is starting today. Since the show’s start, three particular contestants have motivated me along the way.
then was Tara Costa from Season 7 (my favorite),
and lastly, Hannah Curlee from Season 11.
All three of these women have inspired me and motivated me to lose weight and to take my body to the next level. I want to keep their journey in mind as I continue mine and I’m excited to see the contestants on the Biggest Loser tonight!
Do you watch the Biggest Loser? If so, who have been your favorite contestant?
