Confession 1: I was a pansy yesterday morning and didn’t go for a run. The thought of running 4 miles in 12 degree weather at 6AM sounded awful so I nixed it. Instead, I slept for an extra hour, took my time picking out my outfit, and made an awesome smoothie.
Berry Cherry Vanilla Smoothie
- Frozen mixed berries
- Frozen cherry blend
- Tart cherry juice
- Pomegranate juice
- Coconut water
- vanilla protein powder
This smoothie was so light and refreshing. It is definitely going on the “repeat list”.
Next time I make this smoothie I am going to add a handful of spinach. Other than that, it was perfect! The tart cherry juice, which I got at Costco, really gave it an extra kick.
Confession 2: I had a grande coffee today from Starbucks. I know, I know… caffeine is NOT a part of Whole Living’s Action Plan but I was freezing and an afternoon coffee sounded PERFECT. I will say two things about it; 1. It was the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Ok, maybe not the best EVER but after being away from coffee for 2.5 whole days, it was pretty amazing. 2. The caffeine made me into a crazy person. I started creating to do lists out the wazoo and my brain was filled will all of the things I need to get done before I graduate and get married. Lets just say, I didn’t like the way the caffeine made me feel… maybe it’s time to really cut back on coffee.
Confession 3: I did not go to yoga tonight because of confession 4.
Confession 4: I have had wicked bad gas from this detox. There, I said it! I know it’s not very lady like to talk about it but eating only fruits, veggies, and nuts has my digestive system all out of whack. I don’t feel bad per se but my body has a lot of extra “air” in it. Hello fiber.
Day 3 Food Log
Breakfast: Berry Cherry Vanilla Smoothie @ 7AM
Snack: nuts @ 11:30AM and 3 clementines @ 12:30PM
Lunch: Salad from Whole Foods (spinach, kale, swiss chard, brussels sprouts, roasted sweet potatoes, and balsamic vinegar @ 1:30PM. The brussels sprouts had a little Parmesan cheese on them, but they were freakin awesome (garlicky). I also bought this apple tea, but it was way too sweet. I only had a few sips and knew it was too much. Whole Living said we could drink tea but this was sweetened and clearly not a part of the detox.
Confession 5: I didn’t read the label before buying this tea.
I threw the fingerling potatoes in a bowl, added 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of seasoning and mixed until they were well coated. I then threw them on a cookie sheet and roasted them at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Perfection!
Dessert: Chocolate banana smoothie (chocolate protein powder, 1 banana, almond milk, and ice). YUMMY!
Confession 6 (my last one, I promise): It really hit me today that I’m getting married in 6 months!! Crazy. I’m incredibly excited but a little anxious about all we have to do before hand. My goal though is to enjoy every moment and to treasure it all. I’m also realizing that I have the greatest bridesmaids in the world… if you don’t mind, I just want to share a little bit about them…
Alison is my beautiful sister and Maid of Honor. Even though we’re 9 years apart, she is truly my best friend. Alison knows me SO well, which can be a good and a bad thing. She knows when I need a laugh, hug or just a good talkin too. I am SO thankful for my sister and love her SO much!
Melissa and I have been friends since we were 15 years old. We hated each other when we first met but I am so thankful that we became friends. Melissa has helped me through so many stages in my life and I don’t know what I would do without her. I have so many memories with Melissa and am so excited to create more now that she’s on the east coast!
Becky and I met in 2009 when we started training for the 2010 Country Music Marathon with Team in Training. Becky and I instantly clicked and we were with each other for every mile of every training run. We even ran the half marathon together. Becky has been a total blessing in my life and I am so grateful to have her as a friend. She has forever changed my life.
Stephanie and I also met when we were 15 years old and she is my rock. Stephanie and I are trouble and I love it!! I truly do not know what I would do without her in my life and thank God for the blessing he has given me in our friendship. Stephanie has supported me every inch of the way and has helped me up when I’ve been at my lowest of lows and cheers me on in my highest of highs.
Mother of the Bride: I had to throw her in here too as she is my other best friend. My Mom, Dianna, is a beautiful person inside and out. She is the most loving and giving person I have ever known and I pray that I can be like her when I’m a wife and mother. I am truly blessed.
I mean come on, how freakin’ awesome are these 6 women? I am SO excited!
