Yesterday morning, some of my workout gear and toiletries found a new home in my permanent gym locker at work.

Packing for my gym locker was a lot of fun.  Here’s what I included:

  • 2 towels
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 1 pair of short
  • 1 pair of spandex
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • 2 sports bras
  • 1 pair of shoes
  • deodorant
  • smell goods
  • spray gel
  • hair brush
  • shampoo and cream rinse (conditioner as most would say)
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Q-Tips
  • Contact solution
  • extra hair ties

Having all of this in my gym locker at work really enables me to the opportunity to break a real sweat before or during work.  Up until now, working out before only happened close to home, that way I could shower and still be on the train by 7:30AM.  During work, I would go to the gym but I didn’t push myself as much as I wanted as I didn’t want to break too much of a sweat.  I wanted to be able to “clean up” but not have to shower as I didn’t have all of my toiletries.

Now with everything in one locker, I can come to work early to break a sweat or get away from my desk mid day to burn some extra calories!

Yesterday I rocked the house with two workouts:

1.  20 minute run on the treadmill (burned 307 calories)

Time MPH
0:00-05:00 Run at 5.0 mph
05:00-06:00 Run at 7.4 mph
06:00-08:00 Run at 5.2 mph
Repeat 05:00-08:00 x 3
17:00-18:00 Run at 5.0 mph
18:00-20:00 Walk at 3.8 mph

and 40 minutes of weight lifting @ work

Lift Set Rep Weight
Biceps Curls 3 10 15lbs
Chest Flies 3 10 15lbs
Bench Press 4 8 95lbs
Triceps Dips 2 10 Body Weight
Power Cleans 3 8 95lbs

2.  Piolxing @ X-Sport Fitness in Alexandria, VA (burned 614 calories in 60 minutes)

Piloxing is an interesting class, to say the least.  The name sells it as a pilates/boxing class but it is so much more than that.  Our class included boxing, kickboxing, pilates moves, salsa, ballet, and abs.

It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the class, it was just a little odd.  I felt like it couldn’t figure out what it wanted to be and thus the instructor came across as “making it all up as we go along”.  I had a wonderful time with my friend Katy though and I’m thankful that she invited me to the class.

Day 17 Food Log

Breakfast- Cherry, banana and pineapple smoothie (same as yesterday) and two clementines @ 9AM (519 calories)

Lunch- Quinoa, broccoli, shrimp, and spicy Korean sauce (485 calories)

Snack- Cashews, banana, smart chips @ 2:00PM and 4:00PM (660 calories)
Dinner- Lettuce, avocado, and black beans with a homemade vinaigrette (444 calories)

At the end of the day, I had consumed 2108 calories and had burned 1029 calories, equaling 1079 calories total.  Although I was short on my 1300 calorie goal, I did consume 2108 calories in total without working out.
