Weekly Update- Whirlwind
This has been a whirlwind week, but a good one at that. This week I was reminded of how special life is and that even on the worst of days, we should never wish a day away. Each day is a blessing and the people around us are blessings as well!
This week was filled with lots of veggie patties and spinach salads. I am proud of myself for tracking my calories on My Fitness Pal each day but… I didn’t lose any weight this week.
Starting weight: 261
New starting weight: 228.6 pounds
Week 1 weight: 228.6 pounds
Loss this week of: 0 pounds
Total weight loss to date: 32.4 pounds
What did I do right?
-I went to spin at 5:45AM both Monday and Wednesday
-I ate breakfast each morning
-I packed my lunch and ate it at work each day (minus Wednesday when I forgot my packed lunch, so I went to subway)
-I tracked my calories on My Fitness Pal every day
What could I do different?
-I can workout 2-3 additional days each week. Even though I was at work uber early on Thursday and Friday, I didn’t go down to the gym. I need to just go straight downstairs when I get into work instead of opening up my e-mail.
-I can take control of my evenings.
-I can ask myself, “do I really need dessert?”
-Eat out less. I ate out Sunday for lunch, Monday night for Valentine’s Day, Thursday night with Becky, and Friday night with Neal.
-Make sure I’m under my calorie goals for My Fitness Pal. I was over three days this week.
Other Weekly Highlights
Highlight 1: I had a wonderful time with Becky, one of my bridesmaids, on Thursday night. We had dinner at Tesoro, near the Van Ness metro station.
It was a very charming Italian restaurant and the staff was just wonderful.
To start, they bring out fresh focaccia bread and bruschetta.
For dinner I ordered the fresh linguini, with marinara, chicken breasts, mozzarella, and fresh tomatoes. It was wonderful! There is nothing better than homemade pasta.
Highlight 2: Friday night, Neal and I went cake tasting at Buzz Bakery.
Oh mylanta were these cakes (cupcakes) good! We came up with some awesome combos and are excited to see if this is the bakery we go with.
Cake tasting is definitely the right way to end a work week, if you ask me. After cake tasting Neal and I went to Panera Bread for dinner and to talk wedding. It’s unreal that we’re getting married in 4.5 months!
Today Neal and I are going to finalize his tux and then later tonight I’m going dress shopping with my junior bridesmaids and my flower girl. I am SO excited to have these wonderful kids as a part of my wedding. I adore them!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Looking back on what you did right and wrong is a great idea.
And you’re doing great, Ashley- AND most importantly- you have a wonderful attitude.

Oh man, the cake tasting was definitely one of the best parts of the planning process for me! We only went to one place and were just totally in love with what she made. We ended up having a large tier of carrot cake with vanilla frosting and a vanilla cake with a chocolate hazelnut ganache in the middle. We have that top tier waiting in our freezer…
