Washington, DC Engagement Photos

Neal and Ashley 1

This past Tuesday, Neal and I met up with your photographer for our engagement photo session.  My sister recommended Nessa K Photography and boy am I glad she did!  Our Washington, DC engagement photos were taken in the Washington Metro, in the Nationals Baseball Park, and in Old Town Alexandria.  I hope y'all enjoy some of my photos as much as Neal and I do.  Thank you again to our photographer, N . . . March Foodie Penpal

This is my third month as part of the Foodie Penpals program! It is such a fun way to connect with other bloggers and readers. January and February were a lot of fun so I was really looking forward to connecting with my penpal this month. My penpal for the month of March was Elizabeth from Don't (White) Sugar-Coat It!  Elizabeth sent me an awesome box of goodies from Whole . . . Continue Reading »

Food Find: Pasta Zero

Two things first... 1.  There's still time to vote for Coffee, Cake and Cardio in Fitness Magazine's Fitterati Blogger Awards!  My blog was nominated as a "best weight loss blog" and is currently in the top 10!  Please help me get into the top 5, it would mean the world to me.  Next Friday, April 6, is the last day to vote! 2.  I have started a Body Revolution page under the Weight Loss tab! . . . Wedding Wednesday: A Day In The Park

Yesterday was a wonderful day. It started with my first Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution workout in the morning, followed up by a half day at work, and then closed out with our professional engagement photos! Not too shabby for a Tuesday! After working out in the morning, I took a shower and blow dried my hair but decided to hold off on the makeup until just before our engagement photo shoot. . . . Jillian Michaels Body Revolution

Jillian Michaels Body Revolution

A week ago, while in West Virginia with my bridesmaids, I was once again suckered into watching the Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution infomercial.  Little did I know that my dear blogger friend, Kristyn, was considering buying it too.  As soon as I saw Kristyn's tweet about the Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, I knew we had to do it.  A few tweets later I was online buying the pr . . . Goodbye Weekend, Hello Reality

I had a wonderful, wonderful weekend!  To me there's nothing better than spending time with friends, taking naps, watching sports, and wedding planning.  Saturday started off with a 9:50AM showing of The Hunger Games. I really enjoyed The Hunger Games but I will say that the book is better.  This is the first time I've seen a movie in which I had also read the book and I now understand the s . . . Bridesmaid’s Weekend Wrap-Up

I love Sunday mornings. Always have. Sunday mornings scream, "eat a big breakfast! It's ok!". One of my favorite go-to breakfasts when cooking for a crowd is a breakfast casserole. Ashley's Breakfast Casserole 1 box of croutons 1 cup of turkey ham (or your meat of choice) 1/2 cup of green onions (or any other veggies you'd like to add) 1/2 pack of shredded cheddar cheese 1 dozen . . . Pizza Night In West Virginia

I love the great outdoors. Well, I can't say I enjoy "roughing it" but I do love being out in the woods. Back in 2006 I moved to Vermont and worked at Dartmouth College. Being up in Vermont was amazing and I loved being surrounded by wilderness. Being in West Virginia last weekend brought me back to that. I loved sitting in the living room and looking out into the woods. You just don't get that . . . Continue Reading »

St. Patrick’s Day in West Virginia

After our Saturday morning shred and hike, my bridesmaids and I got ready for an afternoon in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.  St. Patrick's Day wouldn't be complete without green attire and a few beers at a local pub. Berkeley Springs is quant, filled with lots of antique stores and a surprising number of holistic shops. The girls and I walked around the town for about an . . . Continue Reading »

Our Saturday Morning Shred

Although my bridesmaids and I did our share of drinking on Friday, we set out to burn some calories first thing Saturday morning. I don't think there's anything better than working out with your friends and truly wished they all lived here in DC (and my family!!).  Becky's and my friendship actually blossomed while training for a half marathon with Team in Training back in 2009, so working . . . Ladies Night Fiesta Party

Friday night, after a few cocktails, Stephanie made us an amazing Mexican feast!  To start, I put together the tomato lime salsa dip that Annica sent me last month.  Let me just tell you, this was A-MAZING! For dinner Stephanie made us turkey tacos, homemade Mexican rice, refried beans, and the most amazing cheese, pepper and tomato dish. This was seriously one of the best h . . . Continue Reading »

Lets Get This Party Started!

I'm baaaack! My bridesmaid's weekend has come and gone but boy did we have a blast! I have been on vacation since last Wednesday, hanging out in DC, traveling to West Virginia, relaxing at a cabin, chatting with my bridesmaids, and enjoying the beautiful March weather. I am going to spread my bridesmaid's weekend recap over the next few days as I have tons to share. I also have some exciting . . . Continue Reading »

Texas meets DC

Happy Friday everyone!! My bridesmaids weekend is finally here! I am overjoyed to have Stephanie, Melissa, and Becky in town this weekend for a girls getaway. Wednesday night Stephanie flew in so we had an extra day to spend together on the front end before taking off for West Virginia today. Yesterday Stephanie and I went shopping at Nordstrom Rack, grabbed some smoothies/sandwiches at . . . Continue Reading »

Springtime Giveaway

Yesterday I said goodbye to my snowmen bed sheets. A few years ago I bought these at Target to brighten up my winters.  They do the trick every year!  There's just something about climbing into a warm winter themed bed! My spring/summer bedding is back, which I love! I just love the paisley sheets, gold and cream comforter and the accent pillow.  My bedroom is definitely my fa . . . Continue Reading »

Wedding Reception Venue Walk-through

A few weeks ago, I met my caterer up at my reception venue to do a walk-through. I adore our reception venue and doing a walk-through made our wedding very real!  It was so fun talking to the caterers, discussing where tables should be, how I want things set up, and the day of event timeline. For me, the venue brings a piece of the outdoors inside.  I love the log cabin feel with the . . . Continue Reading »
