Will it ever end? The truth is, no, it wont. Every day my body will need food and every day I will have to decide what I am going to put in my mouth – for the rest of my life! The past 4 years have honestly been all over the place, taking me further away from the healthy lifestyle I had found back in 2006-2007 when I got down to 207 pounds. I definitely get discouraged when I acknowledge the fact that I’ve gained 24 pounds in the past 4 years, but the truth is, I know what I’ve done to gain the weight back. Working Out Is Not My Problem, Eating Is.
I need to get serious about what I am putting in my body. I need to really connect with what I am eating and how it will affect my body. I need to remember that the way I feel when losing weight will never compare to how I feel when I’m eating.
Since January I have been logging all of my food intake into My Fitness Pal. As you can see by the chart below, my calorie intake is all over the place. I will say that I am proud of myself for tracking my calories every single day but what I am putting into my body is just as important as how much I am putting into my body.
The truth is, I’m eating way too many carbohydrates and have integrated far too many processed foods back into my diet. As I’ve shared in the past, I lost 54 pounds through the Weight Watchers CORE program which focuses on eating fruits, veggies, lean meats, and low-fat dairy. In addition you can eat whole grains, potatoes, and/or rice, but only once a day. I had a lot of success with that diet place but have just gotten too far from it. I slowly started to integrate processed food back into my diet and over time I was back to eating processed foods with each of my meals.
So where do I go from here? This isn’t about my wedding. This isn’t about losing 24 pounds by July 7. This is about developing a healthy lifestyle that sticks and changes my body and life for the better.
- Stick to the “CORE” eating plan, logging all food intake in My Fitness Pal
- No desserts or sweets — I’ll have dessert at our wedding :)
- Limit processed food intake when adding in extras
- Increase water intake
- Weigh in every Monday
- Stick to Body Revolution workout plan and spin plan
As the title of this post indicates, working out is not (currently) my problem. I love working out and want to maintain my current schedule. If I can get my diet in order, I truly believe that the planets will align and I’ll be able to lose my excess body weight.
So there you have it folks. This is where I’m at and how I’m feeling. I want this so bad and I really hope that I can connect with each thing I am eating and not just eat to eat.
