Our Love Story

I thought y'all would enjoy hearing our love story from Neal! I'll share our dating story this weekend. Enjoy! Our First Date - By Neal In true 21st century fashion, Ashley and I met online.  I first e-mailed Ashley as I was about to arrive at Nationals Park for a Billy Joel-Elton John concert.  I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.  Ashley responded a few hours later, saying th . . . Rustic Escort Cards

For our country chic wedding, I thought it'd be adorable to incorporate mason jars into our rustic escort cards. Although I could have purchased our escort cards, I knew my sister and I would be able to crank them out and come up with some great ideas. Little did we know that our ideas would spin into not just stamping, but embossing and instead of hand writing each person's name that we'd also be . . . Continue Reading »

YouTubeuler Tuesday

Last night my sister and I stayed up WAY to late working on wedding music and watching You Tube videos.  I figured y'all needed some good laughs and chills, so here are a few of my favorite videos from last night. But lets back track a little to yesterday afternoon.   After work, Alison and I ran around downtown DC for a meeting with my caterer and to pick up brochures for th . . . Continue Reading »

Weekend Recap

Can you believe it's the last week of June already?  Time is flying by but I'm enjoying every moment of it!  This past weekend I accomplished sooooo much for the wedding and can not believe how close it is! Saturday morning I woke up bright and early and headed to the gym for a 30 minute workout.  Afterwards I went to the farmers market with Alison and Neal to pick up some produce for the week a . . . Looking Back On The Week

bucket table numbers

Woo Wee!  What a week!  Looking back on the past 7 days, it's unbelievable how much has gone on.  It all started Monday with a surprise bridal shower at work and a trip to BWI to pick up my beautiful sister! My boss made us beautiful strawberry and blueberry shortcakes (which Neal thoroughly enjoyed Monday evening) for the shower.  It was such a treat to be able to celebrate with my co- . . . Fitness Goal Setting and Bucket List Making

remember the milk

First of all, I love how obsessed some women are about list making.  I know that's a huge generalization but I feel like so many of the female bloggers I follow, friends I have, and women I work with can't get enough list making in their lives. Here on Coffee, Cake and Cardio I have a mini bucket list, yearly birthday to do list, calendar of events, and most recently, a summer bucket . . . Continue Reading »

Scaleless Summer 2012

photo 1

The summer is officially here and boy did she bring some heat with her!  Today is suppose to be a scoreture but I am really excited that it is now officially summer. Growing up I hated the summer.  The summer meant hot weather, sweating profusely, and wearing less clothes, aka revealing more of my body to the public.  I loved the colder months because I could hide behind my jeans and a ho . . . The Balance Between Pain and Pleasure

The ARThletic Girl

A few weeks ago while at the doctor's office, I had a wonderful conversation with my doctor about the balance between pain and pleasure. (source) In everything we do, my doctor shared, we are in a constant battle to find the balance between pain and pleasure.  The balance is different for every person, which is why each of us face an inward battle with each decision we make.  My doctor went . . . Today is a bittersweet day for me.  On one hand my sister arrives from Texas tonight... on the other hand my best friend is having major lung surgery today.   It is a bittersweet day for me today.  My prayers and my heart are with Stephanie today and I hope that the surgery goes very well.  If y'all would keep her in your thoughts, I would appreciate it more than you know! Although I was una . . . Continue Reading »

Stewed Okra

photo 1

At the farmers market yesterday I picked up a bundle of okra, just knowing I could find something to do with them this week.  When I lived in Texas I used to eat pickled okra all the time, but my other favorite dish was stewed okra.  Stewed okra can be done a number of ways, but here's my favorite recipe. Stewed Okra 2 cups diced okra 1 can diced tomato 1 bell pepper (I used a p . . . Continue Reading »

A Dream Saturday

Fitmixer Amino

Today was an absolutely fabulous day... a dream Saturday if you ask me! It all started with a glass of this yummy goodness. Fitmixer Amino was the perfect pre-workout/post-workout drink, especially as I tackled this crazy workout. By the end, I was pooped but it was great to finish out with a plank. After my workout, Neal and I headed over to the farmers market to grab a few . . . Continue Reading »

Highs, Lows, and Everything In-Between

FitFluential Logo

I have a feeling this post is going to be all over the place, but that's kinda how the past 24 hours have been.  Today was a day of highs, lows, and everything in-between. HIGH -- It's great to be back in Washington, DC after being in Indianapolis since Monday.  The conference was fantastic and I worked hard to eat well and to burn calories through my workouts while I was there (all of my meals . . . Olympic Motivation

I'll never forget the 1996 Olympics.  I was 12 years old, fascinated with sports, excited about the Olympics being in Atlanta, and just about obsessed with gymnastics.  This still gives me chills... I even got the 1996 Olympics VHS tape for Christmas that year... oh yeah, like I said I was kinda obsessed.  The Olympics are magical and as a young athlete, they motivated me to get better at my . . . Garlic Swiss Chard

photo 1

Last weekend at the Rockville Farmers Market I snatched up a bundle of swiss chard. I see swiss chard and rainbow chard on the Food Network's show Chopped all the time (I'm obsessed with that show), but I've never actually cooked with it before. Going to the farmers market always gets me pumped up and excited to try new things.  Swiss chard is inexpensive, easy to cook, and a great . . . Continue Reading »

Traveling to Indiana

photo 1

Yesterday I headed to Indianapolis, Indiana for a 3 day conference.  I packed my Vera Bradley bags, all 6 of them, and headed on into work.  When I travel I realize just how many Vera Bradley bags I have (duffel bags, cosmetic bags, electronic cases, etc.).  LOVE! Around 4PM I was getting hungry, so I munched on some rice cakes and these Funky Monkey Mango OJ snacks.  They were REALLY tasty . . . Continue Reading »
