Our wedding reception at the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek was an absolute blast. Words can not describe the feeling of walking into a room with your new husband and to be greeted by such amazing and loving people. It’s amazing.
When we first arrived at the reception we took some time to mingle with our guests, to say hello to old friends, and to eat some awesome appetizers from Hill Country BBQ.
I mean come on, isn’t Lauren’s face priceless?
Our first dance as husband and wife was beautiful. I loved having that moment with Neal.
Dancing with our parents was also a blast! Having danced with my Mom earlier in the day, I loved being able to have that time with my Dad.
After speeches from our dads and a prayer, we dug into the amazing BBQ from Hill Country.
Eating, drinking, laughing, and kissing… what could be better? Oh yes, the Maid of Honor speech!!
Alison’s speech was just perfect. She made us all laugh and she made me cry.
Our moms also gave Neal and I a recipe book which held recipes from family from across the world. It was so special to have read hand written recipes from my Grandpa and Grandma, both whom passed away this past year. It was such a special gift and I can not thank everyone who contributed enough!
We also received a book of baby photos from our parents. It was my first time seeing photos of baby Neal so that was a blast!
When it was time to cut the cake I was like “OH YEAH!! I totally forgot about the cake!”. I was pumped! Neal and I hadn’t even talked about the cake cutting so it was fun to just wing it.
We also had delicious banana cream puddings in baby mason jars from Hill Country for dessert.
And then it was time to DANCE!!
Before I knew it, it was time to leave. I couldn’t believe how quickly the day had gone by but it was an absolute blast. There were only a few awkward moments at the reception, but I just laugh at them now.
Having glow sticks for the end of the wedding and for the exit was super fun and a great treat for our guests. I’m pretty sure the adults liked them more than the kids.
And just like that, we were married and on our way… a beautiful night with some absolutely beautiful people!

Hi there! My fiance and I are considering Seneca Lodge as a potential venue so this post has been very helpful! I love all the diy details and was wondering if you had to lay out all the decorations yourselves or did you hire people to execute that? And did the caterers help with laying out table cloths and table top decor or were they just responsible for delivering food and then they were outta there?
Thanks so much for any insight. I’m planning this wedding from nyc and any help is so appreciated.
Hey JiJi, I worked with Ruby from http://www.invitedspecialevents.com. They took care of everything. I highly recommend her!
Sweet! Thanks!
