It’s hard to believe that Neal and I left for our honeymoon almost 2 months ago (and that we’ve been married for 2 months tomorrow). To start our European honeymoon Neal and I flew to Amsterdam Holland for a 2 day stay.
After 2 flights, we landed in Amsterdam early afternoon on Tuesday, July 10. The train ride from the airport to Central Station was very easy and brought us within 1/2 a mile of our hotel, Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Centre.
After we dropped off our bags Neal and I hit the town, walking miles around the city.
The canals were just amazing and I loved being able to walk alongside them throughout the city.
Touring Amsterdam was a true joy for Neal as his roots lie in Holland (Netherlands).
Our walk took us through many of Amsterdam’s Red Light districts and boy are those women comfortable standing in windows naked. Not my thing, but it was interesting to see to say the least.
Our walk also took us to Amsterdam Square, home of the famous I AMsterdam sign.
We also enjoyed many authentic meals while in Amsterdam.
For our first dinner we enjoyed Hotspots, which was like a deconstructed shepherds pie in my opinion.
We also tried a savory dutch pancake which was fantastic!
Our second day in the Netherlands took us to the town of Rozendaal (more on that trip to come) but day 3 gave us a chance to see even more of the city.
One of my favorite parts of the city was the Flower Market.
Alongside one of the canals, the Flower Market is home to a dozen flower shops, lots of souvenir shops, and FANTASTIC cheese shops!
Close to the Flower Market is also the Anne Frank House which Neal and I decided not to see. I will say though, if you ever go to Amsterdam, go to the museum first thing in the morning. The lines were always crazy when we walked by.
Before we knew it our time in the Netherlands was done and we were on our way to Wolsfeld, Germany, my home from age 5-8.
Amsterdam was beautiful and I will treasure my memories from there forever. I hope to take our kids there some day.

Love! My husband is from The Netherlands (southern part) and we got married there in June. I only got to spend 1 day in Amsterdam but I like it enough to move there! Hoping the next time we visit his parents we can spend more time there. Thanks for sharing…looking forward to more pics.
Happy 2 months! What a beautiful place to visit! The flower market looks awesome. I have a lot of Irish roots and would love to visit Ireland someday!

Love reading your honeymoon recaps! My boyfriend and I hope to do something similar for our honeymoon, but we’ll likely include Scottland as my boyfriend’s parents are from there.
Remind me to ask you more about Amsterdam.

I’d love to go there someday (or heck, anywhere in Europe!!). What beautiful photos. I can’t believe it’s been 2 months- I feel like your wedding was just yesterday!

So nice that you went to Amsterdam! I am from The Netherlands and I live in Rotterdam. I can tell Neil has Dutch roots because he looks like one! Haha
Please, next time you come, do visit the Anne Frank house. You can order the tickets online in advance, so you can skip the line. I’m 24 years old now and I’ve been there three times. It’s breathtaking, so much history.
