Trisha Yearwood’s Chicken Tortilla Soup

Trisha Yearwood Chicken Tortilla Soup

With a second day off from work due to hurricane Sandy, Neal and I took full advantage of the time to get some more things done around the house and to prep for the work week ahead. After a morning of meal planning and recipe hunting, Neal and I headed over to Cosi for lunch before running a few errands. At Cosi I ordered the Fire-Roasted Sandwich on multi-grain bread for 9 Points Plus on . . . Continue Reading »

Weight Watchers – Just Do It

Overweight Teenager

This is going to be a long post but an important one... Yesterday I took some time to go through my files and to organize my paperwork (checking things off my fall bucket list, woo hoo).  Among my files were my medical records from my childhood.  As I turned the pages I grew so discouraged to see that at the age of 9 I was taken to a dietitian because I was classified as obese.  In my ch . . . Have You Lost Your Will and Ability to Dream?

Matt Long

I can't tell y'all how happy I am to be writing y'all from my home this morning. The Federal Government closed today because of hurricane Sandy, which was the catalyst for several other closings like my employer and the Washington Metro Rail System. Today I wanted to take some time to share about one of the most impactful moments of my time at the Runner's World Half and Festival.  After my 10K . . . Continue Reading »

Pre-Hurricane Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp and Ice Cream

Today was an absolutely wonderful Saturday! I woke up without an alarm, totally forgot to set one, and rolled out of bed at 7:30AM. I immediately checked my phone to see what gym classes were offered this morning and saw that there was an 8AM spin class. I instantly kicked myself into high gear, got dressed, took Theodore outside, and headed to the gym for a workout. The spin class was awesome! . . . Continue Reading »

Hurricane Sandy Projection

Although it's a grey morning, I couldn't be happier that it's Friday... and that Sandy is coming! Before I talk about Miss Sandy though, Lauryn from Cupcakes & Kickboxing nominated me for a Liebster Award.  A big thank you to Lauryn for thinking of Coffee Cake and Cardio! Part of the nomination requires me to answer 11 questions about myself, so here y'all go. 1. What is your favorite . . . Continue Reading »

Runners World 10K Race

photo 3

Last Saturday I tackled 6.2 miles of hills in Bethlehem, PA at the Runners World 10K race.   One of the three races offered at the Runners World event, the 10K started at The Steel Stacks and took us through the town of Bethlehem. On my way to the start, I enjoyed a P28 bagel with peanut butter for breakfast.  As I had a few hours before the 10K race, eating a whole bagel was the way to g . . . Continue Reading »

The Protein Effect

Special K Strawberry Banana Protein Shake

Yesterday I hit the reset button on my diet!!  It was time to start clean and stop analyzing.  I don't know about you but I can spend months and months trying to figure out what works for me and 4 months later I still haven't lost weight. I believe wholeheartedly that you have to be in the right place mentally to lose weight, especially as many of us know exactly what we need to do to lose w . . . Continue Reading »

Runners World Weekend Kickoff

This has been such an amazing and impactful weekend for me.  I am beyond thankful to Runner's World for the events opened to us and for all of the amazing men and women I was able to meet. Thursday night the bloggers headed over to Runner's World Headquarters for a BBQ with the editors.  Oh, and when I say dinner with the editors I literally mean dinner with the editors.  We were greeted by . . . Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

PB Crave COCO Bananas

Hello from Runner's World Headquarters in Bethlehem, PA!  What a trip it has been already and I can not wait to tell y'all all about it! On this lovely Friday though I thought I'd share a recipe inspired by Elvis (hold the bacon).  One of my favorite pre-race/pre-workout breakfast is toast topped with peanut butter and banana so I figured why not make that into Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip B . . . You Don’t Have to Fit a Particular Mold to Be a Runner

Tomorrow I am heading to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Runner's Wold Half Marathon and Festival! When I was first invited to run at the festival I was scared!  And I mean freak out scared.  Did they realize I wasn't a typical runner?  Did they realize I wouldn't be able to run all three races (5K, 10K, and half marathon) in one weekend like many of the other runners?  Did they realize tha . . . Happy Birthday Ashley

I think this is the first birthday in which my age has actually hit me.  Turning 28 is exciting but it also reminds me of how time flies, how precious life is, and how important it is to make the most of each day. I'm not sure if it's hitting me more because I am now a wife or because (God willing) we'll be having kids sooner than later. At Fitbloggin a lot of women talked about their drive to . . . Tidy Mighty Monthly Exercise & Fitness Calendar

My birthday is like my New Years.  It's a time for me to reflect on the previous year, the life I'm living, who I am, and where I want to be.  It is my time to set some new years resolutions, Ashley style. Last year I started a new job, completed my masters degree, planned my wedding, got married, went on a honeymoon to Europe, and settled into my new role as wife and puppy owner!  It was a wi . . . A Wine and Dine Weekend

Hidden Brook Winery

This weekend started off pretty rough with the Nationals losing to the Cardinals Friday night. Thankfully the rest of the weekend made up for the heart break!! Saturday morning I slept in until 8AM, which NEVER happens!  It was awesome!  After cleaning the apartment a bit Neal and I headed down to Gold's Gym for a workout.  We both did cardio and then followed it up with a weight routine.  I did . . .
