Friday night after work, Neal and I raced home to prepare for Livingsocial’s 5K Dance Party. In our awesome goodie bags, which include earphones and lots of glow sticks, were these awesome glow in the dark t-shirts.

After a train ride into DC, we arrived at RFK with 8000 of our closest glowing friends.

Registration, bag check, and the after race dance party were all in the stadium armory, just across the street from RFK stadium.  After checking in we walked over to the starting line, which was on the back side of the stadium in one of the parking lots.

On our walk we saw so many amazing outfits!  It made me wish we had spent more time thinking about our attire, but I still loved the t-shirts Livingsocial gave us.

As we lined up for the race, in corral 1 I might add, Neal and I realized that this was probably our only chance to lead a race at any point in our lives.

Neal took this very serious and requested that I document this momentous occasion! (too cute).

After a warm up, aka dancing in our corral, we started the race around 7:40PM.  The race essentially took us around and through the parking lots around RFK, which is nothing special, but Livingsocial made it incredibly fun!  There were DJs along the entire route, paint tunnels where you could get sprayed with glow in the dark paint, and a few light tunnels.

Although the race was not chip timed, we crossed the finish line at 32:18, which was pretty accurate as we crossed the start line as soon as the gun went off.

We both ended the race feeling great and truly enjoyed the entire experience.  After the race we grabbed some water and treats from KIND Bar and Popchips before walking back over to the Armory for the dance party.

Along with our bib we were given a ticket for a free soda or beer, which I was really hoping to take advantage of, but I opted for water as I had football practice the next morning.

The party was off the hook and a fantastic way to end a 5K race!

Afterwards Neal and I took the train a few stops to have dinner with Spike Mendelsohn at Good Stuff Eatery.

Good Stuff DC

Neal has raved about this place since we met and thought this was the perfect opportunity to take me there.  When I saw the milkshake options, I knew I was in heaven!

See … heaven!

Spike also has a mayo bar, which Neal LOVED!! Mango, Old Bay, Siracha, and Chipotle were the mayos Neal snagged.

Being on a diet, I tried to make the best decision I could.  I ordered a burger with onions and blue cheese (I just had to go for the blue cheese) and a child size fry.  Neal and I then split the toasted marshmallow milkshake.  I counted every point when I got home, consuming 40 point at dinner.  Amen for the Weekly Points Allowance.

Good Stuff DC

Neal and I both had a fantastic night and the people around us seemed to have had a blast too!  Major props to Livingsocial!! I look forward to seeing all of the events and races they put on here in the DC area!
