Christmas eve is exactly 6 weeks from today!  In that time we will all be tempted by some of our favorite foods, sweet treats, and decadent eats.  For many, it is the most challenging time of year.

Christmas Countdown

Last week my beautiful sister Alison, who has lost almost 30 pounds on her own I might add, joined Weight Watchers!  I was so pumped to know that we’d both be doing the program and could help each other through the holidays and beyond.

As my sister and I talked about the next 6 weeks we thought it would be a great opportunity to challenge our routine and to prepare ourselves for the holiday season, seeing as it can be a time when things get out of control.

The goal is not to get rid of specific foods forever but instead to see if we have a positive reaction to cutting certain things from your diet.  After a week, it is up to us individually to decide whether we want to bring what we have cut out back into our diet.

We took some time to decide upon things to cut out each week, choosing certain things on the weeks where we knew we’d have the greatest struggle (aka Thanksgiving and holiday party season).

6 Weeks Till Christmas Plan

Today I unplugged both of my coffee makers and dusted off my extra water bottles.  For the next 7 days I will drink only water and tea (with no condiments).

Along side my cup of peppermint tea this morning I enjoyed some butternut squash homefries and 1 egg (3PP).  Last night I roasted the diced butternut squash with a little olive oil and then refrigerated them until this morning.  I then reheated the squash in a pan with a little cooking spray.  Such a great alternative to potatoes for breakfast!

So who’s up for a little 6 weeks till Christmas challenge??

I would love to invite you all to join me for the Holiday Countdown Challenge.  You can either follow along with our plan or create your own 6 week plan. Either way, it’s important to remember that you are in complete control of how the next 6 weeks go.

Please feel free to share your 6 week plan with me.  You can either comment on this post or send me an e-mail.

In the end, I hope that in 6 weeks you will feel healthy and rejuvenated.  I want you to feel great this holiday season and to not feel guilty about enjoying a treat with your family, friends, and loved ones.
