The next 48 hours are going to be an absolute whirlwind, but before I get into what the future holds let me take a few steps back to talk about the past couple of days.
As I shared on Tuesday, I felt like I derailed a bit last weekend. Neal and I had a pretty unhealthy dinner Friday night and then I had cheese at just about every meal Saturday-Sunday. The weekend left me feeling like blah!
Although I refocused on Monday and ended up only gaining 0.2 at my weigh-in on Tuesday, I’ve still felt like I’m walking along side the road I’m suppose to be on. It’s weird feeling so off when you’re doing a lot of things right.
You see, I’ve tracked my points every single day since starting Weight Watchers over 4 weeks ago, but how I use my points and the choices I’m making at times are what seem to pull my head out of the game. Let me break down this week for you…
I had a great day on Monday, starting off the day with a healthy breakfast and lunch. I came home with 19 left for dinner, way more than I usually have left at that time of day. I had a hearty and healthy 16 point dinner, leaving me with 3 points for the day.
And then I pulled out the ice cream… and didn’t measure it. I definitely had a cup of ice cream, based on the bowl but put it in as 1 1/4 cups just in case. Now you see, I still have weekly points to use, so I should feel fine right? But I didn’t. I felt like I had made a poor choice and could have ended the day without overindulging.
After my weigh-in that morning I was feeling kinda blah but refocused and started the day off with a good breakfast. Coming home from work I had 20 points left, again, a little higher than I would have liked. As our puppy had a vet visit at 7PM I decided to make myself a salad and would have a turkey burger when we got home from the vet…
But instead I stuck a spoon into a PB jar and consumed 11 points worth of peanut butter. Another heavy point indulgence. Although I didn’t go over my daily points that day, I was left feeling like I had once again allowed food to control me decisions.
Same story but I had 14 points left for dinner after work… with a little help from 5 points worth of chocolate chip cookies. I got home and made some roasted asparagus and a turkey burger, leaving me with with 5 points.
Then I broke the cardinal rule of ice cream eating and ate it right out of the carton. I mean come on, I can eyeball a 1/2 cup serving size right?? WRONG. 2 cups later I had consumed 15 points worth of ice cream. Another low point for the week.
Although I’m staying within my points or I’m using my weekly points allowance, I’m still engaged in destructive eating behaviors that have me down in the dumps? What’s it going to take to control these urges and high point food consumption sprees?
I did a lot of thinking last night and this morning at spin class and realized 3 things… one, I have to keep tracking what I’m eating no matter what. Two, I have got to measure everything before I eat it. And three, I need to be ok with not buying peanut butter or ice cream. They are trigger foods and always lead me down a path of destruction if I’m not careful!
This morning I started off my day with a 45 minute spin class and then enjoyed a P28 Bagel (7PP) and 2 measured tablespoons of Trader Joe’s Light Cream Cheese (2PP). I also have a lunch packed (11PP) to energize me through the work day. After lunch I’ll have 17 points remaining, but as I’ll be eating out tonight, I’ll need all of those points.
Tonight after work I am headed up to Boston for a blogger event at Reebok Headquarters!! I’m excited and nervous all at the same time and feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity!
The event takes place all day tomorrow and then I’ll fly back tomorrow night, just in time for a DC Divas Kick Off party here in DC. After the party it’s back home for some good rest as I have rookie football practice bright and early Saturday morning.
It’s going to be a wild 48 hours but I’m thrilled about what those hours hold. Come Saturday I hope to be feeling better about my weight loss journey and energized from my day at Reebok and my second football practice.
What helps you to get back on the road to weight loss?
