Yesterday was a much, much better diet day! YAY! I started the day off with a cup of coffee and a bowl of grapes. In the morning, I helped my mother-in-law price jewelry for her boutique, which was a blast.
I loved looking at all of the costume jewelry and learning more about her business. I secretly (or not so secretly) would love to open up a shop, so I love learning from her!
At 12:30PM, we headed down to a diner for breakfast. I ordered a veggie omelet with a side of wheat toast, dry.
I started feeling like I was catching a cold in the afternoon, so I took a nap before Neal and I headed to Des Moines for the evening. For the road I grabbed a Naked Power-C Machine in hopes that the vitamin C boost would help me to feel better.
Our drive to Des Moines was beautiful. Nothing better than driving into the sunset, literally.
While in Des Moines I made sure we stopped at Smokey Row, an absolutely wonderful coffee company in Iowa. It’s actually from the area Neal grew up in, but they have a store in Des Moines now.
Smokey Row is not only sells coffee, but they also sell ice cream treats and specialty drinks.
Normally I grab a bag or two of their flavored coffees, they have tons of them, but yesterday I was looking for something a little different…
Smokey Row Christmas Coffee!!! I read all about them online and knew I wanted to pick up a few of them… little did I know I’d be buying $66 worth of coffee. Oops!
Holiday Cheer- Caramelized vanilla, graham cracker and rum flavor
Kringle Krunch – Sweet toffee and creme flavor
Jingle Bell Java – Caramel, rum, pecan, cinnamon and vanilla flavor
Candy Cane Coffee – Peppermint and vanilla flavor
Snowflake Sundae – fudge, caramel, and pecan flavor
Christmas Creme – French vanilla and almond flavor
Yeah… I bought them all. Luckily I know a few coffee lovers and will be back in Texas for Christmas so I can bring a few bags with me there.
For dinner last night Neal and I picked up Mexican food at a restaurant in Neal’s parent’s town. I ordered the Monterrey Chicken which was 2 thin chicken breasts grilled with onions. It was served with corn tortillas, pico de gallo, and rice. It was a perfect dinner to close out the day.
Today is our last day in Iowa and it is a COLD one!! We’re planning to help Neal’s parents with a few things and to enjoy our last day of vacation.
I’ve also taken some time to create my weekly plan for my return to DC this week. It’s important to plan out my meals and my workouts, especially after vacation.
After the Thanksgiving holiday, how do you get back on track? What’s on your weekly plan?

So far, so good. I am proud of you for getting back on track, I know you can do this!
It has been easy getting back on track with the vegan part of a traditional/vegan hybrid Thanksgiving menu being an epic fail HAHA!
I love coffee. I’ve been looking for different coffees to serve for Christmas get togethers and house guests.
