After having metabolic testing done and having a better understanding of how many calories I burn, I had to start thinking about how I wanted to consume my calories. As a full contact football player there are days when my body just needs more. How I use my 1800 calories a day make a huge difference in how I feel and how I perform at practice.
I am still figuring things out but I know how great I feel when I consume more protein and vegetables. I need the protein in order to fuel myself for practice and to refuel myself after practice. Though I could carry around eggs, grilled chicken, and veggies, some days it’s just not realistic. I need and want something else.
Pure Protein sells a variety of protein products which are easy to grab and great additions to my diet. Now that we are wearing full pads, the number of calories I burn during practice has greatly increased. I exert lots of energy and often leave practice completely wiped. Being able to refuel myself with Pure Protein has helped me to recover a lot quicker.
This week I tried Pure Protein’s High Protein Bar with 20g of protein and the Vanilla Creme shake with 15g of protein. Both products were tasty and gave me an extra boost of protein on practice days. Though I won’t use the products on days I don’t workout, they are perfect for days when I burn an extra 600-1000 calories.
My favorite Pure Protein product so far is their Whey Protein. This week I made a delicious smoothie using their Frosty Chocolate Whey Protein Powder.
In a blender I combined 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of mixed frozen berries, 1/4 cup of rolled oats, and 1 scoop of Frosty Chocolate Protein Powder.
The oats bring a nuttiness to the smoothie and make it much more filling! If you need a little boost in your smoothies, I highly recommend adding in some oats.
I’m usually more of a vanilla fan, but the chocolate frosty flavor was delicious!
I have enjoyed trying out these Pure Protein products and seeing how they help me to recover after a tough workout!

i love a banana, frozen yogurt, and peanut butter & co bee’s knees peanut butter with skim milk (plus 6 ice cubes for thickness). adding vanilla or chocolate protein powder would add flavor and staying power!
I love chocolate smoothies, and I would definitely add the powder to the smoothie!
I would enjoy trying a Pure Protein Vanilla Berry Banana Smoothie!
I love smoothies with lots of berries in them – raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries. My grocery store sells bags of frozen berries, so it makes making smoothies really easy.
I’d go with the vanilla protein powder so that the flavor of the berries can come through.

I am a big fan of protein shakes, especially in the morning. Typically I throw together a banana & peanut butter one with a vanilla protein base. So, the pure protein vanilla cream powder would definitely be my choice!
I just started following your blog and I’m totally love the fact that you play full contact football. I wish there was a league out where I live!
I love all things strawberry banana flavored and I think the vanilla creme would be a great addition!

I love, love, love smoothies. I make mine with frozen strawberries, a frozen banana, plain Chobani, almond milk, and a nut butter of some sort. The vanilla protein would be great in my smoothies too!

I love a smoothie with peach and mango. Vanilla protein powder would work well!
I love adding vanilla protein flavor to smoothies…my favorite combo is usually with banana, oats, yogurt, cinnamon, and almond milk.
I love chocolate protein powder with skim milk, half a frozen banana, and frozen blueberries. Sometimes I add cocoa powder for even more chocolateyness mmmmm
My favorite smoothie is frozen banana, pineapple, and coconut milk, so I’d probably use the vanilla whey powder. Yum!
I like smoothies with vanilla protein powder, Almond Milk,1 Cup Spinach, Mangoes, 1 Banana and Pineapple.
I love making smoothies in the morning!! I usually stick to Target brand of protein powder. I’d love to try Pure Protein chocolate in my shake! Make mine with protein powder, frozen berries, vanilla, cinnamon, chia seeds, and sometimes PB2.
I usually do prepare my shakes using spinach and the fruit that seems closer to ‘spoil time’. I would like to use the chocolate preotein powder because of the added flavors, others than just plain sweetness that some other flavors have.

My favorite smoothie recipes consists of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas and raspberries so I would use the vanilla whey powder for some added sweetness! Love your blog!
I love a mint chocolate chip smoothie using chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, frozen banana, spinach, and mint. When the fall gets closer, though, I crave pumpkin pie smoothies: vanilla protein powder, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, almond milk, and a dash of maple syrup. So good!

My favorite smoothie recipe is:
Fat-free skim milk
Fruit (whatever’s on hand–been using pineapples, apples, blackberries, mangos, etc)
Fat-free yogurt (either Greek or regular–depends what’s in the fridge)
As much spinach as I can fit into the blender
Throw it all into the blender and blend until smooth. I make these before bed and then in the morning I just pulse the blender a few times so everything mixes up, and then I drink it on the way to work.
I know this is probably the least imaginative smoothie recipe on the Internet, but I like that it fills me up in the morning AND allows me to get some veggies into my system early in the morning.

I really like just a basic strawberry protein shake, and sometimes I add peanut butter too. But today I made a simple shake with soymilk + coconut water + vanilla protein powder + 1 tbsp of sugar free cheesecake pudding mix. It was so good! Tasted like a cheesecake shake
My favorite smoothies are any kind if fruit, spinach, and milk. I would definitely try the vanilla flavor with them
Banana, almond milk, strawberries! I bet vanilla protein powder would really give that smoothie some staying power for after my crossfit workouts!
The Pure Protein Vanilla would be divine in my strawberry peach pineapple smoothie with Greek yogurt that I make!
I really like making a green smoothie with spinach, banana, milk, and some berries and adding in some protein powder to help keep me full!
I am a Frappuccino breakfast smoothie person cuz I get my coffee. My protein drink is 1 scoop protein powder and 1/2 cup skim milk with 1/4 cup greek yogurt and 1/2 cup strong coffee with sugar free carmel or vanilla syrup (or both) blended in my magic bullet with several ice cubes. So yummy!!!!

That smoothie looks delicious! There are a billion different smoothie recipes I adore, but I have to say that a pumpkin smoothie is probably my all time favorite: 1 cup pumpkin frozen into cubes, 1 cup almond milk, a bit of pumpkin pie spice, some vanilla extract and stevia for sweetness, delicious! The vanilla protein powder would be perfect to bulk it up, though I’m sure chocolate pumpkin would be fantastic as well

I like using frozen banana, PB, chocolate protein powder and a handful of spinach in a smoothie. I also recently tried a killer key lime pie smoothie (from Side of Sneakers) that’d probably taste just as good with a little vanilla protein powder added to it.

I love Green smoothie with spinach, almond or coconut milk, vanilla protein powder, strawberries, and half banan.
You can’t go wrong with a strawberry banana smoothie. I’d probably just use a vanilla protein powder to not overpower the fruit!
I love vanilla protein powder- my favorite smoothie is fresh spinach, unsweetened almond milk, blueberries, vanilla protein, a gob of almond butter and ice cubes- keeps me going for hours!
My favorite protein shake (currently): Handful of frozen strawberries, scoop of chocolate protein powder (hopefully I’ll get to try Pure Protein’s Frosty Chocolate Protein Powder), add in milk of choice. Blend. Yummy. There is something about strawberries and chocolate.
