One thing I love about Washington, DC are all of the opportunities that exist not only in DC but in the surrounding area. Whether it’s festivals, concerts, sporting events, or races, there is so much to see and do here.
As the warmer months approach, race season begins to bloom!
I’ve been fortunate enough to run a number of races in the DC area but am always itching for more! This year I’ve been eyeballing a few races including the Run for the Dream race in Williamsburg, Virginia June 1 and 2!
Williamsburg, VA is such a historic city and is full of things to do. Whether you’re visiting the historical sites, Bush Gardens, or shopping on main street, Williamsburg is a must see! To find out that a 8K and half marathon are being run there just sounded too good to be true.

Running this race would be awesome! Plus a visit to DC!! It would be fun to run and see sites at the same time!
I would love to win…races are my favorite thing but doing them on a student budget is impossible!
Id like to run/walk this race because I am just getting started on my fitness journey and like to have events to motivate me to keep up with fitness and meet my overall goals.
I have been searching and searching for my first half marathon to run, and this is absolutely perfect! I just moved to the DC area with my husband and I would love to be able to run this with him! I have never done an 8k this would be a good motivational goal for me and I love Williamsburg!
I’d love to run this race – I live in the D.C. area, and running races is a great excuse to visit and explore other cities for a weekend!
I’ve always wanted to visit Williamsburg especially since I moved to the mid-atlantic region a few months ago and haven’t done much exploring. To win this would be a great opportunity to visit the place and this race seems like a great race to test this year’s fitness resolutions
First of all, I love Williamsburg! Also, history. And finally, that weekend is when my son (who’ll be 10 at the time) is going on his first out of state trip with his school. I’ll be a flipping mess and will need something to distract me. Running this half with my hubby would definitely keep my mind occupied!!
I love Williamsburg! And I’ve been looking for a race to run in June… this seems perfect because its right before the heat really sets in for the summer (if we are lucky).

I would love to win this giveaway because I’d love a chance to run in a new place and to have a race to look forward to in June!
this is the perfect time of year to run a race and the fun challenge with it sounds like a blast. I am dying to get back to VA where I went to college to race on those ground, even if i didn’t technically go to school in Williamsburg. Still a wonderful area to run in.

Wow, this would be a GREAT trip! I have never been to Williamsburg,VA and that weekend is my 13th wedding anniversary!
I just got my husband into running (we are doing our first half in May) and it would be so fun to spend our Anniversary completing a race together in a new city to explore!
I would LOVE to run the 8K! I think the charities are great causes, and as a bonus, it would be a great way to maintain my training (AND get to visit my husband’s family who live in Williamsburg)!
I have run this race the past two years and thought maybe this is the year I should try the patriot’s challenge but then they changed the weekend and I have been vacillating back and forth on which race to enter for that weekend. If I won entry then I would know this is the one.

I actually found this post because I was interested in running the half and searched for recaps from past years
I live in the DC area and am looking for a late spring/early summer half … and the Williamsburg one looks so nice! It’s so pretty down there and I also love that the race supports Wounded Warriors. Fingers crossed that I win!
Thanks for a chance to win .I would like to jog this race because I need something to motivated me back to jogging. I did the C25k last year and did the Richmond Color Run 5k. When it got cold here (Virginia Beach area) I stayed inside. I need something to motivate me back out there.
8K is a perfect length for me and I LOVE Colonial Williamsburg. Not only would I get to run a race with my boyfriend (who is doing his first half marathon in a couple weeks), but I’d also get to finally show him Colonial Williamsburg. I would love to win this!
Ok, you got me there! I do love the fact that DC provides so many race opportunities. I’ve not yet enrolled in a strictly “running” race. The ones I pick are typically marketed as walks (i.e. March for Babies, Good Strides, Walk MS, etc) because it wasn’t until just last year that I could actually run an entire 5K without stopping. I had this really special moment last spring where I ran not one but two 5Ks two days in a row. It definitely gave me the confidence to want to enroll in a running only race in the future!
