This past weekend was just fantastic! The weather was beautiful, I had a good practice Saturday, and I was able to meet up with some awesome friends!
It all started Friday evening with a nice glass of Riesling.
After work, I headed into DC to meet up Rebecca had organized for some DC health and fitness bloggers. Before the event I met up with Amanda and Jen for drinks at Founding Farmers before having dinner there with Rebecca, Robby, and Kate.
Founding Farmers has a fabulous bar (and tiki bar in the summer), with a huge drink menu! I love beer and am always intrigued by the cocktails, but I decided a glass of wine was just what I needed after a long week.
When the rest of the group arrived we headed over to our table and were welcomed by some amazing appetizers!
Devil-ish eggs…
Smears, Dips and Table Bread (Romesco, Green Goddess, Pimento Cheese dips)…
and Oven-Roasted Cracked Black Pepper Wings… YUMMY!
For dinner I ordered a bowl of the Winter Chili, which was delicious…
Though I couldn’t eat too much because of all the wonderful appetizers…
And a few glasses of this guy…
Founding Farmers is such a wonderful restaurant and a great place to take a large group. A huge thank you to Rebecca for organizing the dinner and to Founding Farmers for hosting us! We had WAY too much fun that night!!
Saturday kept the awesome train rolling! It started out with football practice, slowed down with a 3 hour nap min afternoon, and then ended at Chop’t with my hubby!
Neal and I had never been to Chop’t, so we were excited to try it out.
Although it’s similar to other salad bar restaurants, Chop’t had a lot more options including a lot of light salad dressings.
Chop’t is also unique because they literally chop up your salad before serving it. It’s a great way to combine everything that way you’re getting a little bit of everything with each bite.
My salad was romaine lettuce, chicken, tomatoes, red onions, cheese, and light chipotle ranch. Neal also loved his Mexican Caesar salad, so I know we’ll be headed back there soon!
Sunday I enjoyed puppy snuggles, a trip to Ikea, a mid afternoon gym session, grocery shopping, lots of cooking (more on that this week), and a night by the fire pit with the Offensive Line of the DC Divas.
It was a winederful weekend and I hope the week ahead is just as good!

I’ve been wanting to try Founding Farmers for a while – I always hear wonderful things about it! Chop’t is one of my favorites, especially since they don’t charge by the pound… Load on the toppings
