Yesterday I read online that a blogger had passed away last week unexpectedly, the day after her 30th birthday. I was so sad to hear that Lorrie had passed away. So young and so determined to live a healthier life. My prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time!
Lorrie’s passing really shook me. It is the first time someone around my age has passed away from a health related issue and it made me think a lot about my health and my goals. Though Lorrie hadn’t blogged in some time, reading through her past posts you see her drive to be healthier, the struggles she went through, and her dedication.
Not that I would ever want to hear such sad news, but sometimes it is what you need to hear in order to wake up. As I’ve shared a number of times, I truly believe people need a reason to lose weight… a life changing reason. My goal this year is to lose weight before having kids, which is still my goal, but being reminded of how precious life is has made me think more about my health and what I put into my body.
This week I was extremely happy with my diet and the things I ate. Almost every day I’ve gone to bed slightly hungry but content with my eats of the day. I’ve eaten real food but have measured everything and have been very honest in my tracking!
Here’s a look at some of my eats. Note: you can see all of my eats on My Fitness Pal
Breakfast – 2 slices of Ezekiel bread, 4 pieces of turkey bacon, and 1 tbsp of boysenberry jam
Lunch – 1 cup of rice lentil pilaf and 1/4 cup of quattro formaggi cheese
Snacks – 1 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 1 Quest Bar, and 4 baby tangerines
Dinner – 1 whole wheat tortilla topped with chicken and 1 smashed avocado
This week I didn’t go above and beyond on the exercise front. I had football practice Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday but only made it to the gym one other time, on Monday. I rested Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday…. and I feel great!
So how’d I do this week??
Starting Weight: 233.0 lbs (weighed in at the doctor’s on 2/14/13)
Last Weigh-in: 228.0
This Weigh-in: 225.4 lbs !!!!
Difference: -2.6 lbs
Total Weight Loss: -7.6 lbs
I am really thrilled with my loss this week. It’s my biggest loss in a some time and I can look back on the week and know exactly why there’s a loss on the scale. My mind is in the right place and I hope that as I move forward it stays in that place.
One thing I’ve been thinking about these past few weeks is whether or not to create a rewards list. I love rewards, LOVE them, but would they really motivate me to lose weight?? Well now that I’m losing more weight, I think it’d be fun to have a rewards system. It gives me something to look forward to and uhhh is just fun!
I created a Pinterest board of my rewards, so you’ll have to check them out!
