One of my goals for the month of March was to decorate the apartment. My first step was to create a list of things I needed to do and things I wanted to buy. My next step was to shop!! I had no problem shopping and found some adorable things. Here’s a little tour of what I did around the apartment…
In the entry way I hung our mail holder.
In the kitchen I got us some new kitchen towels to tie all of the primary colors together. I’m obsessed with my Le Creuset but needed something to tie the cobalt and red together.
I also bought these adorable cast iron fork and spoon wall hangings.
Moving into the living room, Neal and I hung our “guest book” from our wedding which was a thumb print tree. I knew I’d never look at a guest book, so the tree was a great way for people to leave their “mark” and to create a piece of art for us to keep forever.
In the living room, I found a new wall hanging from Target. We hung it a little too high, but it works for now.
Moving into our master bedroom, I found this beautiful cast iron hanging (notice a theme? I’m slightly obsessed with cast iron).
I had already added a few decorations to my dresser when we bought the furniture last fall, but I loved seeing it all come together.
I added a few photos from our wedding…
and left the mason jars, which were decorations at our wedding.
I also hung 3 plates, all of which were given to me by my Grandpa. I am in love with Russia, so you’ll see little Russian touches here and there throughout our apartment.
In the guest room, Neal and I brought together a number of items we love, creating a country/rustic feel to the room. Above a small bookcase we have I hung one of Neal’s Iowa prints.
Above the guest bed (Pottery Barn bedding) I found these two vintage cast iron hangings.
On top of our other bookcase I added a clock from Target, the candelabra from our wedding ceremony, and a Russian painting.
The last touch was a large framed print I bought at Goodwill about 5 years ago. I’ve used this print a TON, including as a decoration at our wedding.
I love how our apartment is looking and how everything is really starting to come together. We have company in this weekend, so the decorating couldn’t have come at a better time.
What’s your favorite decoration in your dorm, apartment, or house?
