I am a firm believer that one’s environment can make a world of different in their health, lifestyle, and well being. Over the years I’ve learned that I need to live in a place that…
- Is surrounded by nature (parks, trees, hiking trails, lakes/rivers)
- Has a close knit community
- Is close enough to retail stores but isn’t in the thick of it all
- Is safe and has a great school system (thinking about the kids I don’t have)
- Has 4 seasons
- Has a slow to medium pace about it
Although there are things I love about the DC area, I have learned over the years that DC is too fast pace, high stress, and discombobulated for me. Neal and I are not in a place where we can change our environment but I keep that list close to my heart for when the time does come. It can be a very challenging thing to do, but sometimes you have to look at your life, where you live, and ask yourself, “is this the best place for me, my health, and my well being?”.
When I first met Lauren back in 2011 she told me how badly her and her husband wanted to move to Colorado. It was a place that made them feel whole. Colorado had everything they wanted in an environment and although there were things they loved about their home state of Maryland, they just knew Colorado was where they were meant to be.
After years of dreaming, moving to Colorado has become a reality for Lauren and her husband Greg! I am beyond excited for her and am eager to hear about all of the great things the change in environment will bring to their lives.
Last night, Neal and I met Lauren and Greg for dinner at the Dogfish Head Brewery Restaurant in Gaithersburg, MD.
I ordered the Greek Salad topped with salmon…
and Neal ordered the Backyard BBQ burger (which was so stinkin good)!
It was bittersweet saying goodbye to Lauren. She has been such a wonderful friend; supporting my goals and dreams, helping Neal and I with our move to our first place, and encouraging me when times were rough, but I know this move is going to change her life.
I wish Lauren and Greg the best of luck in their move to Colorado and encourage you to follow along as she takes this leap!
If you could live anywhere, where would you live? Or do you already live there?
I would love to live in Charleston, SC!
