The past 7 days have been so freeing. To be able to live without restrictions and pressures is something I’ve longed for, but didn’t think would results in me living a happier and healthier life.
I understand that for some it’s hard to understand what I’m doing, but I hope that as you follow along you’ll see that living freely and focusing on my wellness does not mean that I’m throwing all healthy habits out the door.
This week I focused on three things…
1. Eating when I am hungry
2. Stopping when I am satisfied
3. Enjoying my workouts
That is legitimately all that I have focused on! I have enjoyed a variety of foods, have consumed a lot of water, and have lost weight!
Rebecca encouraged me not to focus on the scale and although I’m not in a place yet where I want to let go of it forever, today I began to understand why it’ll be important to give it up at some point.
Weighing in at 228 was awesome, but what if I had weighed in at 233? Would I have discounted everything I did this past week and how great I felt? Probably! You see, the scale can play nasty tricks on us. I’m thrilled to see a 4 lb loss this week, but in future weeks I may not see the same results and I have to be ok with that! The key is to focus on my health, my wellness, and my goals, not on what the scale says.
The other highlight of my week was being able to really think about what I was craving and to eat it. On Monday night I was craving two things, vegetables and pasta… so I ate them! I created an amazing summer vegetable pasta dish, which absolutely hit the spot!
I started by sauteing 3 carrots and 1 whole zucchini.
Next I added 2 diced garlic scapes, cooking the vegetables down for about 10 minutes.
Then I added 3 chopped plum tomatoes and cooked the vegetables for about 5 minutes before adding in salt, pepper, and red chili flakes.
To the cooked vegetables I added in 1/2 a bag of cooked Delallo whole wheat bow tie pasta and stirred to combined. The last thing I added was olive oil, probably about a tablespoon.
The dish was so flavorful and exactly what I wanted for dinner. I enjoyed a bowl of the pasta and then put it away instead of picking at it (something I struggle with). OH and Neal loved it, which was awesome! I’ve got to get more vegetables into that boy’s diet!
So overall my first week since meeting with Rebecca has truly been life changing, which I know I keep saying but it’s true. I am grateful for the pounds lost, but am overjoyed at the thought of breaking habits that have consumed me my whole life!
I am eager and excited to continue this journey…
