Yesterday morning I woke up determined to live a happy and healthy life!
I set my alarm for 6AM and snoozed until 6:30AM. As I slept in my workout clothes, all I had to do was get out of bed, brush my teeth, make my Spark, and head to the gym.
I knew I needed a good hour to get ready for work, so I hopped on the elliptical and busted out 30 minutes. I didn’t wear my heart rate monitor but according to the machine I burned 348 calories.
I was back in my apartment by 7:05AM, giving me plenty of time to shower, dress, make breakfast, pack my lunch, and hit the road by 8AM. First things first though… I made myself a big old cup of coffee!
Now plenty of people think Coffee-Mate is bad for you but you know what, I love it. I have however tried to cut back on how much I use it because of the sugar, so one trick I have is to measure out 1-2 tbsp and then to top off my cup of coffee with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. So delicious…
By 12:30PM I was REALLY ready for lunch. Ideally I would have had a snack around 10AM but I honestly haven’t been able to even think about food during the work day these days. I literally have to force myself to step away from work to get my lunch in. Not ideal, but it is what it is right now.
For lunch I had roasted eggplant, marinara sauce, and pasta. My dieting brain tells me that pasta is bad… but why is that? During crazy days like yesterday, eating carbs like pasta helps to keep me full as I don’t have the time to eat a snack mid morning or afternoon. Yesterday’s lunch was perfect and kept me full until I got home.
For dinner, I made flank steak which I had marinated overnight in Lawry’s Baja Chipotle Marinade. To go with the steak I made both sauteed zucchini and pico de gallo brown rice. For the rice, I simply added homemade pico de gallo to brown rice and served! It’s an incredibly easy dish and SO delicious!
My evening was spent playing with Theodore, watching the Nationals beat the Phillies (WHOOP WHOOP), and participating in a FitFluential chat on twitter.
The day really was great! I got a good workout in, I ate some amazing foods, and I got to bed by 11PM. Sometimes when you just live life, you realize that your habits are healthier than you think they are. I still had to make a decision to get up, workout, and eat healthy foods, but really, it’s how I want to live. Onto the next day of just living! #JustLiveIt
