Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot Yoga

I had the most productive weekend ever!!!

Saturday I cleaned the house, worked on a few projects, enjoyed the beautiful DC weather while at a soccer game, and caught up on my DVR.

Yesterday morning, I took advantage of day lights savings time, waking up early to head to hot yoga.  If you ask me, day light savings time is the ideal time to transition to AM workouts.  Before your body gets use to having the extra hour, I highly encourage you try out getting up early and breaking a sweat!


Around 7:15AM I headed over to Bikram Yoga Rockville for a 90 minute class, using a Groupon I had bought earlier this fall.

I sweated profusely, but boy did it feel good to work through the 28 poses, to clear my head, and to get out all those toxins!  It’s also the one place I feel comfortable wearing booty shorts, because guess what… I don’t care!  It’s too hot for pants.

After class, I headed over to Giant for some groceries.  I picked up lots of veggies, a few lean proteins (eggs, ground bison, chicken breasts, and ground turkey), and some seltzer water for the week ahead.  I am working really hard to detox from sugar and it all starts at the grocery store.


After putting away my groceries, I whipped breakfast together pretty quickly.  I had some Arginine Extreme and Spark prior to yoga, which fueled my workout, but the chicken sausage, eggs, and sweet potatoes were the perfect post-workout fuel.


After brunch and a shower, I headed back into the kitchen for some meal prep!  First up, pot roast.  I added a roast from Relay Foods, carrots from my CSA, and a pouch of Campbell’s Slow Cooker Sauce to the crockpot.  6 hours later, dinner and leftovers were ready!

I also roasted spaghetti squash, eggplant, and baby carrots for this week’s breakfasts and lunches.  I’ve learned these past few weeks that having veggies ready to go helps a lot as the week gets going.


The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing with Neal, taking Theodore for walks, working on a few blog updates, and prepping for the week ahead!  Tonight is the kick off for the Get Well Challenge and my next AdvoCare 10 Day Cleanse is in one week!  If anyone would like to join me, I’ll be doing the Cleanse November 11 – 21!

    Jealous of your weekend workout motivation! This was the one weekend I rested and well needed!

    I currently have chicken and salsa cooking in my crockpot, all I have to do is make some brown rice and steam veggies and dinner is done! Yay!

    Looks like you had a great weekend!! I have a lot of friends who have gotten really in to hot yoga lately, but I’ll be honest and say that I’ve never tried it before! I’m worried that I’ll slip and slide all over my mat! But maybe I should start looking in to a studio that offers it, and just try it out.
