Boarding the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas was such an exciting experience. As we had never been on a cruise, Neal and I had no idea what to expect. We boarded the ship right at 12:30PM on Saturday, December 14, giving us plenty of time to relax before the boat left port at 8PM.
The Jewel of the Seas isn’t the largest boat in the Royal Caribbean fleet, but we found it to be quite ideal for us. The ship had 13 decks, with us sleeping on the 7th floor (in 7590 to be exact).
Our room, which had a balcony, was really an ideal size for the two of us. There was a queen size bed, couch with a sleeper inside, coffee table, a full desk with vanity, closet, and bathroom with a standup shower.
Every day our room attendant would stop by twice, once in the late morning to clean the room and once in the evening to turn down our beds and to give us our Cruise Compass. The Cruise Compass provided us with the next day’s schedule on the ship.
Throughout the ship we found a variety of bars, restaurants, a movie theater, a full theater, a casino, the main dining hall, and multiple pools.
Multiple floors also had business centers, which in my opinion really needed to be updated. The computers were extremely old and the internet was super slow. There was wifi on the ship, but it was very expensive (ranging from .44 to .76 per minute depending on the time of day).
The spa and fitness center on the boat were both amazing! I was really surprised by all that they provided through the spa and fitness center, all with the goal of helping cruisers to live a happy and healthy life.
But more on that tomorrow! To be continued…
