Goin’ Through The Big D

vera bradley

but I do mean Dallas! Bonus points if you know that song... Well, this southern girl is back in Texas for a week and I couldn't be happier! On Wednesday I flew from DC to Dallas to meet up with my sister Alison. Alison attends UNT, so I figured it'd be fun to check out the school and her digs before heading home to San Antonio. While on my first flight to Birmingham, I read up to Week 14 . . . Continue Reading »

Staying Healthy While On A Cruise

Exercising While on a Cruise

Staying healthy while on a cruise was really important to me!  I knew it was going to be a challenge with all of the food and alcohol available on the ship, but I made it my priority.  Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas has both a spa and a fitness center on board, which really helped me to focus on fitness. The gym itself was quite large.  Located on the 12th floor at the front of the sh . . . Continue Reading »

Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas

Jewel of the Seas

Boarding the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas was such an exciting experience.  As we had never been on a cruise, Neal and I had no idea what to expect.  We boarded the ship right at 12:30PM on Saturday, December 14, giving us plenty of time to relax before the boat left port at 8PM. The Jewel of the Seas isn't the largest boat in the Royal Caribbean fleet, but we found it to be quite i . . . Continue Reading »

Southern Caribbean Ports of Call

Tortola British Virgin Islands

On December 14, 2013 Neal and I left San Juan for the Southern Caribbean on Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas. Each island and day was so different, giving us a chance to experience the diversity of the Caribbean. Day 2 - Tortola, British Virgin Islands After breakfast at the Windjammer buffet on the ship, Neal and I headed to the dock for our excursion to the Virgin Gorda Baths on . . . Continue Reading »

Caribbean Getaway

Neal and Ashley

Last summer Neal and I decided to plan a Caribbean getaway for the winter of 2013.  Having never traveled to the Caribbean, we worked with Heather from Classic Travel in order to figure out our best option. Heather was absolutely amazing, answering my 1,800 questions, ultimately helping us with our decision to go on a cruise instead of visiting an island resort.  Neal and I were looking for a r . . . Heart Warming Weekend

This weekend Neal and I drove up to Cleveland, Ohio to visit his sister and her beautiful family.  It's an easy drive up to Cleveland, taking just about 6 hours and a good cup of Dunkin' Donuts to get there. Saturday morning we woke up to the most amazing breakfast! Waffles with homemade vanilla cinnamon whipped cream is where it's at!  Our brother-in-law is the king of breakfasts, and S . . . Whirlwind in Nebraska

Blonde Poneytail Blogger

Neal and I are back in Iowa this weekend for his cousin's wedding and saw it as the perfect opportunity to travel to Nebraska to see family and a few friends.  I hit the road bright and early yesterday morning, that way I could stop in Omaha on my way to Lincoln. Of course I had to stop at Smokey Row in Des Moines on my way to Ohama. I mean, how could I not? Their coffee is just . . . Continue Reading »

As I've shared, I've been pretty stressed and overwhelmed lately, so the downtime we had in Iowa this past weekend was great. Although the first few days were busy, things started to settle down once the weekend hit. Saturday afternoon Neal and I headed back to Iowa City for the Hawkeye's opening game against Northern Illinois. We got some amazing tickets on game day, just 10 rows behind . . . Continue Reading »

Iowa Adventures

This weekend Neal and I ventured out to Iowa to visit his parents, to attend Fry Fest, to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes in their opening game, and to relax! Bright and early Friday morning Neal and I drove to Iowa City for Fry Fest. My rock star of a husband, who has written three books on the Hawkeyes so far, was there to sell, autograph, and talk about his books.  I am so proud of all . . . Continue Reading »

A Weekend In Boston

Vera Bradley

This weekend Neal and I headed up to Boston for the Women's Football Alliance Conference Semi Finals against the Boston Militia. I love to travel and always crack up when I see how many Vera Bradley bags come out of the closet when I fly.  I love my Vera Bradley bags... Love! Once we arrived in Boston, I made Neal take a little detour to Marylou's Coffee.  I've heard SO much about M . . . Continue Reading »
